2 Weak For No Meat?

LOL. Just Kidding! It’s week 2 of No Meat November!

(this is a little longer read- more experience...LOL)

So, the question that comes to mind is, did you die tho? (tho is urban slang for though for my professional readers, lol. Get into it.

The answer: No. Lol. I have been enjoying cooking with fresh veggies every day. I have a few takeaways, some goals, and some things you might want to be aware of if you ever take the plunge and give up red meat.

Let's get into our weekly recap!

Day 7:

this day was unusual. I ate twice. I had a day full of activities planned, and I didn't consider how I would eat. It was a day of play for the adults as we celebrated a good friend's birthday at a paintball park. Talk about intense! Wow! It was like a workout after the workout. Lol. So after round one, I was famished. I nibbled on cheese-its and lays potato chips. The next real meal would be at a local restaurant. They had a veggie burger that was so delicious and filling. I choose to have the sweet potato fries at the direction of the birthday lady. :-) I ate what I could, and that was it! I may or may not have drunk the night away. LOL.

Day 8:

I was feeling it in more than one way! I didn't make it to yoga or work. I needed time to regroup from Saturday (I don't get out often). It was imperative to eat when I woke up. My body needed it. I could feel it. Luckily, I had more than enough veggies to make my delicious omelet. Thanks, Amazon! That food delivery yall is clutch when you don't want to be in the aisles of the store.

The plating of the omelet still needs work but don't judge me. I'm working on it. See Picture Below.

Speaking of plates, my girl Hope invited me over for dinner. Like, authentic, vegan dinner. Everything was homemade and made with love! It was a great experience. Skip to Thursday to read about it.

Plating In Progress

It’s a work in progress.

Day 9:

Leftovers. Nothing to see here. Not every day is exciting. Lol. Be lit about leftovers they; carry seasoning and love. So, please don't sleep on them.

Day 10:

I'm winging it again. Lol. Let me order a few new things. So, I can make some new types of meals. My sister bashed on some of my mushrooms. I added more to my cart. Yukon fries? Don't mind if I do. (They are unavailable? Ugh! Lol.) More wraps, just in case, potatoes, and tomato paste. Although I looked it up, I can not remember the recipe that called for this. Lol.

Day 11:

I think I have this thing down packed. :-) Alright, so I have eggplant left. What can I make? So, I scour Pinterest for ideas, and a few resonated with me as I've made them before, but I wanted to try something different. Stuffed, that would be a new concept for me, so let's go for it! Its recipe was easy and quick. The recipe called for very few items, all of which I had but the marinara sauce. I ordered some. However, I needed to make this now! (stomach is on 10, lol) I had some creamy tomato soup.

Day 12:

this was the day dinner took place! I was excited and scared! I mean, all vegan foods are not created equal so, I didn't know what to expect. Lol. More on that later. For breakfast, I had my regular omelet. I was pretty full for the most part until about 1:30, and I brought out the ninja and made a protein shake to hold me over until dinner.

Ok, Hope and her family are real vegans. I'm just dabbling for the month. I am halfway there. Lol, I doubt I will go back to a full-blown meat diet as I know I have cleared my system. Ok, back to the subject. LOL. So, I get to Hope's home, and her daughter has everything cooking. She's plating food, checking the potatoes, and showing me the run-down of the evening meal. It's beautiful, and it smells delicious. My fears went out the door. Lol.

In their home, they serve dessert first to prepare your stomach for the meal to come. Freshly frozen strawberries and bananas blended in the ninja for ice cream was marvelous. The organic chocolate sauce that came with it was great! Celery juice was the next. It was strong: yet it was tasty.

Ok. Main Course! Say, Less. Here I was in front of A delicious collard green wrap with a veggie mixture, hummus dip, purple potatoes, and chips for dipping. It was more than enough to feed a few people, and it was only three of us. Little Mama was cooking (smile)!

Everything was an experience in and of itself. Little Hope (for privacy) showed me the seasonings she used. She didn't use much, but her main ones were usually were in the form of natural elements. (onions, garlic, etc.) One additional item she used was the amino sauce which, I am familiar. However, she made her dishes pop utilizing a mixture of the above. I was not only impressed, but I was also inspired to go home and try my hand using the hybrid of seasonings.

Day 13:

here, I am ready to get ready to work. I wake up hungry. However, I fast every day until 9 am. I decide I'm going to make my rendition of last's night potatoes. Mine was red, and they tasted similar. I made a whole video to show you. (See my highlights named Potatoes). I learned a few things here add veggies to potatoes towards the end. This reason is so; they do not cook so fast. Also, salt is my nemesis. Sometimes, it's too salty other times, Jesus wept because there was no salt. Lol. All in all, it was tasty, spicy, and delicious. I will possibly make this as a scramble in the morning.

The day got away from me, and I had the last of the leftover eggplant. I felt accomplished. Lol. After work, I was a moving sista. I had quite a few errands to run. My stomach started touching my back. When it starts rumbling, that means its serious business. I can go a while without eating. Since surgery, if I am stressed, my stomach kind of locks up on me. I am grateful.

I was out and unprepared. I don't care what type of diet/lifestyle you follow. You ought to be preparing for many different scenarios of how your day might fluctuate and accommodate accordingly. I made a great choice in my book; a personal wheat veggie pizza with hummus and pizza chips (they cut up the dough). I arrived home at 9:30-ish and I didn't eat anything in between as I usually fast from 5:00 pm-9 am. I do this most days. If my stomach is absolutely in knots, I break my fast early.

Well, this week was beyond captivating. What do you think? What was your favorite part?
